Sacramento News & Review
(Case No. 060729)

Summary:

The good people of the Sacramento News and Review, a popular local newspaper, were gracious enough to open their doors to RCPI for an investigation. During preliminary interviews, our investigators discovered that there have been a number of eerie feelings and strange happenings experienced by staff members.

In our research of this location, we found the building has an interesting history. Before the Sacramento News and Review moved in, the building was occupied by a funeral home. The earliest record our researchers found involving this location came from a death announcement stating that the funeral service for this individual would be held in this building. As a funeral home, the building would have seen more than its share of the deceased pass through its halls.

Another article our researchers found was from 1982 and showed a picture of the building. In this article, it was stated that the building had been abandoned since the 1960's. There is always the possibility that the building was occasionally inhabited by vagrants and there may have even been a death or two inside during this time. That, of course, is speculation and we'll stick to what we know.

RCPI began the investigation at 10:00pm on Saturday July 29, 2006. Following standard procedure, we ran an EMF sweep to determine a baseline reading. We quickly found that there were too many electronics that were skewing the EMF meter's readings. Unfortunately, these electronic could not be turned off, ruling out the use of the EMF meter for that evening.

A walk-through was conducted by each of our three sensitives (separately, of course) to gather any feelings or impressions. This was video taped in hopes of catching any paranormal activity which may have occurred during this time. After all three sensitives completed their walk-through, hot-spots were identified and RCPI investigators set up their equipment; one night-vision camera and one EVP recorder in separate locations.

The investigation wrapped up about 1:00am on Sunday July 30, 2006.
