River City Paranormal Investigations

Frequently Asked Questions

* What equipment do you use during an investigation?
We use an Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) reader which will pick up the electro waves of spirits. We use night vision camera to pick up on even the slightest bit of light moving through a room. We use electronic recorders or magnetic tape recorders with an audio filter program to see if we can hear what the spirits are saying. We use motion detectors for rooms that we are not actively in to let us know when there is activity. One our best tools are the sensitives that we have on our team. They have proven time and again that they can sense when entities are near and where to point the cameras!

* What is the difference between a ghost and a poltergeist?
A ghost is a spirit that is lost both in time and reality and is just trying to figure things out. For the most part, ghosts are harmless and just need a little help. That's where we come in, to try and help those spirits move on or just understand the circumstance of what has happened to them.

A poltergeist is a spirit that has chosen to stay and knows the abilities and limitations of being a spirit. For the most part, they are mischevious and playful, but they have been known to be harmful and mean. That's where we come in, to rid the home/building of this possibly harmful spirit.

* Do you perform excorsisms?
Interesting question. I would have to say, "No". In the traditional sense, we do not perform excorsisms of devils and demons. Not to say that we possibly couldn't, but we have never come to a point where we needed too. We can "cleanse" a house of an unwanted spirit and even help prevent bad spirits from entering ones home/life. Again, in a traditional sense, that is not an excorsism.

* Have any of you seen a ghost?
Some of us have and others are waiting to experience that type of phenomenon. Aside from just seeing or hearing them, most of us have "felt" ghosts, "smelled" ghosts, and even experienced a "metallic taste" when a ghost is near. We never limit our senses to just sight.

* What does RCPI do on an investigation?
In the simplest terms, we examine a location that is suspected to be haunted. We rule out ALL other possibilities of false hauntings (ie: shadows of trees, wind blowing in through a crack in a window, etc.) and narrow it down to the activity that cannot be easily explained. Check out our Investigation Methods description.
